Where the Next Decade of Alpha Lives Outside the US
Join Michael Gayed and Hervé Van Caloen live tomorrow, Friday July 31 at 12 PM ET, for a sponsored Lead-Lag Live Webinar on international equity strategy, Latin America, and the underlooked global supply chain.
The consensus trade is US large-cap tech. And that’s exactly why the next decade of alpha probably isn’t going to be found there.
Tomorrow, Friday July 31 at 12:00 PM ET, I sit down live with Hervé Van Caloen, Founder and Portfolio Manager of Mercator Investment Management, for a one-hour, CFP CE Credit-eligible conversation on where international equity money is actually flowing — and why the traditional 60% US / 40% ex-US allocation is being rewritten in real time.
Registration is free and open here.
What We’ll Cover
1. Where legislated capital is actually flowing. Japan’s $2.3 trillion strategic capital plan is not a headline — it’s a 14-year, public-private industrial policy that touches semiconductors, robotics, defense, and the entire east Asian supply chain. Europe’s industrial policy pivot is the same story in a different currency. This is what “non-US alpha” looks like when you follow the money instead of the benchmark.
2. Why the international semi-cap fab supply chain is the underlooked play. Everyone owns Nvidia. Almost no one has a considered position in Advantest, Tokyo Electron, Disco Corp, ASML, or Lumibird — the small- and mid-cap engineering companies without which no chip gets made. Hervé will walk through how a benchmark-agnostic international portfolio approaches this layer of the stack.
3. Latin America as the next HNW allocation story. MercadoLibre. Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste. The Venezuela thesis. The demographic and consumer platform stories in LatAm are earlier-innings than most US advisors realize, and the SAM Mercator Overseas SMA has been positioned in this region for years.
4. Why “US-only” allocations are re-becoming a tail risk. Concentration risk in the S&P 500 has never been higher. Valuation dispersion between US and international has rarely been wider. Hervé makes the case — with 30+ years of international investing behind it — for why the next decade rewards allocators who actually look outside the US.
Who Should Attend
Financial advisors, RIAs, family offices, allocators, and any serious investor thinking about international equity exposure beyond a passive MSCI ACWI ex-US allocation. If you have clients asking whether the US concentration risk in their portfolio is worth doing something about — this session gives you a defensible, well-articulated framework and a strategy to point to.
